Footage has emerged from China of record smog hitting the capital Beijing on Monday, leaving the city scarcely visible.

According to local reports, the smog has been affecting the city since last Friday with PM2.5 levels breaking a rare 500 μg/m³ measurement.

The smog has caused several traffic accidents, leading to road closures, but is forecast to dissipate by Wednesday.
