Big alligator relaxes in clear springs on Ichetucknee River in central Florida
I spotted this gator relaxing on the Ichetucknee River while kayaking at the end of June. This section of the river has a few miles of crystal clear water from the several springs that feed into it, offering an unparalleled opportunity to view local wildlife that is thriving in the area. This is the biggest gator I have seen while paddling, but she barely gave me a second look as I drifted by about 15 feet away and paused to take this video. The water is a constant 72 degrees Fahrenheit, but the air temperature that day was scorching at over 90 degrees.
