This social worker visits care homes in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and uses the power of play to help keep elderly residents active.

Joel, the founder of @bewegen.is.leven (which translates to "movement is life"), uses games to keep senior citizens active and engage their senses.

He told Newsflare: "Don't forget the power of functional play! Many residents do not want to move. They are inactive. By adding play, the residents train! MOVEMENT IS LIFE!"

Footage shows the care home residents taking part in a series of games using sheets of cardboard.
