Derek Porter, a suspect from Georgia, has been apprehended after a strange incident in which he broke into the Emerald Beach Church of God in Florida while apparently under the influence of crystal meth. In a surreal turn of events, Porter claimed that an unseen force compelled him to baptize himself during the break-in.

Using a brick, Porter forcibly entered the church and made off with valuable items such as a TV, a computer, and even the collection bag. However, his actions took an unusual twist when he later recounted to the police that he experienced a spiritual episode. He claimed that, while inside the church, he felt an inexplicable force holding his head underwater in the baptism pool.

Officers from the Bay County Sheriff's Office arrived at the scene and found Porter in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The break-in resulted in approximately $8,000 worth of damage to the church. Surveillance footage captured police searching the premises and a police dog unexpectedly leaping into the baptism pool for a refreshing swim.

Porter now faces charges including Burglary of an Occupied Structure, Criminal Mischief, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. It was revealed that he was already out on bond for a previous burglary incident in Georgia. The bizarre sequence of events serves as a reminder of the unexpected situations law enforcement encounters in the line of duty.
