This is the dramatic moment an out-of-control Tesla rammed through a locked gate and knocked over a pedestrian.

CCTV footage captured the moment the black vehicle sped towards the metal gates of a residential community in Ningbo in Zhejiang, eastern China at 12:48 am on August 15.

The video shows the Tesla smashing the gates wide open as it continued travelling forwards. It headed straight towards a pedestrian who spotted the oncoming vehicle but was unable to dodge it on time.

The car hit him and knocked him to the pavement. It reportedly kept going until it ran into the complex's perimeter wall.

Footage from the scene shows the crash aftermath, with pieces from the smashed brick wall scattered all over the road.

Next to the debris was the damaged Tesla with its driver seemingly passed out inside behind the deflated airbags.

An ambulance was also seen at the scene as one paramedic tended to the unconscious driver.
