Aftermath of Typhoon Melor by bike

Harrowing footage has emerged showing the aftermath of Typhoon Melor on the island of Mindoro in the Philippines.

The video, captured on Sunday, shows the widespread destruction caused by the storm, with fallen trees and debris from houses by the side of the road.

The filmer, a volunteer, wrote online: "I used a bicycle to get around the different places that the storm affected, this is to gain access to areas that are still blocked by debris and other obstacles like floods, fallen trees, and others.

"In addition, I regularly use a bicycle for my coverage of events as way to promote human-powered mobility and also because I'm the founder of an organization that serves as volunteer bicycle messengers in places affected by extreme weather and other natural disasters.

"Our work provides an alternative means of communication for people who are in need of a way to get in touch with relatives and also aid and rescue agencies that can provide them with assistance."
