Intelligent stray dog knows how to get its food.
A wet waste bin of a housing society in Margao city in the Indian state of Goa.
Margao and its municipality has been in the news for failing to managing its waste dump at Sonsoddo Raia which has caught the attention of Bombay Bench of the HIgh Court. The Sonsoddo waste dump mismanagement and lack of adequate facilities at the dump, tons of untreated garbage is lying at the plant is a five decade old story. The garbage treatment plant is good as not working. At the local municipal level, the Margao civic officials have not been able to stream line the collection of garbage and added to it are the broken garbage bins and lack of garbage bins for dry and wet waste in housing societies.
The Municipality does collect the waste from dead plants like coconut leaves, banana trees, thus they are left to rot in the housing societies garbage collection sites and it is left for the housing societies to deal the waste....either hire a private contractor or treat the waste at their own premises.
The housing societies have been requesting the municipality to give them new garbage bins and take away the broken ones for wet waste and also bins for dry waste. They have written several letters but no response. With broken bins, it is left to the rats, dogs and cats to feast on the wet waste and scatter it all over the place the wet waste.
The segregation of dry and wet waste will help some of the many problems for the people on the ground the garbage collectors.
