Climate activists dressed as doctors demonstrate outside Energy Intelligence Forum in Central London
Thursday (October 19) saw an emphatic demonstration of climate activism outside the Energy Intelligence Forum at the InterContinental Hotel on Park Lane, London. Activists, donned in blue doctors uniforms, assembled to voice their demands for 'climate justice', articulating their concerns through potent slogans and chants.
"They refer to rising energy costs and blame big oil for the loss and damages," as they harmonized chants like 'What do we want? - Climate Justice. When do we want it? - Now!' according to eyewitness reports. Their banners bore impactful messages such as 'Fossil Fuels Kill' and 'Cause of death: fossil fuels finance', encapsulating the essence of their protest.
The event followed a notable protest earlier in the week, featuring the prominent climate activist, Greta Thunberg. "Earlier on Tuesday, 17 October, Greta Thunberg spoke at a climate protest outside the InterContinental hotel," sources noted. Thunberg, alongside 26 other activists, faced legal repercussions, resulting in a temporary detainment and restrictions on further protesting in Westminster.
The continuous efforts of the activists underscore a pressing call for substantial actions towards climate justice amidst the backdrop of consequential forums like the Energy Intelligence Forum, notoriously dubbed as the ‘Oscars of Oil’.
