2nd alarm structure fire with collapse, West Cameron Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania

Just after 4pm Northumberland County Communications Center dispatched a house fire at 4163 Lower Road, West Cameron Township for a porch fire. Upon arrival of first in units found a fully involved home and quickly upgraded the call to a second alarm with tanker task force.

Command East Cameron Township Assistant Fire Chief George Kerstetter, stated “the house was fully engulfed and began to collapse as firefighters were setting up hose lines.” “A defensive operation was setup after confirming no one was trapped inside the burning structure”, “two vehicles and two outbuildings were also lost in this fire as gusty winds put firefighters at a disadvantage.” “Firefighters also kept a propane tank cool at the rear of the structure.” “no injuries were reported at this time”

It is believed that several animals might have been lost during this incident.
Units operated on scene over 3 hours while bringing the fire under control.
