Standoff in Kulpmont on Monday leads to additional charges.

Frank Marasco, a 50 year old man from Kulpmont, Pennsylvania, is being held at the Northumberland County Jail on $100,000 bail after an incident on Monday shut down several streets in Kulpmont.

Confrontation at Borough Building ($25,000 bail)

Marasco reportedly approached borough employee Jewel outside the borough building, demanding keys to Kulpmont Police Department vehicles and threatening to take them. Newbern, who had previous encounters with him, felt fearful and locked herself inside the building. Marasco returned with a dog, reportedly known to be vicious, and kicked the police department door, causing minor damage.

Incident 2: Standoff with Police ($75,000 bail)

Later that morning, Marasco was involved in an hours-long standoff with police after allegedly making threats to a local garage company. He barricaded himself inside his home upon arrival of police , claiming to have a bat and a firearm, and refused to surrender. Police used tear gas and a taser to subdue him, after he was found hiding in a rear attic crawl space.

Marasco is facing the following charges,

Felony Charge of Terroristic threats causing the evacuation of a building 

Misdemeanor Charges of Stalking, Institutional vandalism, Disorderly conduct, threats causing public inconvenience,  obstruction administrating the law,  resisting arrest, disorderly conduct engage in fighting 

Summary Charge of Harassment

His bail was set at $25,000 for the initial incident and $75,000 for the standoff.

His preliminary hearing is set for October 29, 2025.
