The National Committee of the Radical Civic Union (UCR) decided today that it "will not accompany any of the candidates" in the ballot of next November 19 in which Sergio Massa (Union por la Patria) and Javier Milei (La Libertad Avanza (LLA) will compete for the presidency, because "neither of them guarantees a future of progress for Argentina".

[SOUNDBITE: Gerardo Morales, head of the Radical Party (UCR)]

"It is a great irresponsibility what they have done, because Mauricio Macri, who is the generator of all this move and is the one responsible for the defeat of Juntos por el Cambio, could have put his face on the issue. Before the PASO, he was already campaigning for Milei, after the PASO he campaigned for Milei and against Patricia (Bullrich). His pathetic role is regrettable".

[SOUNDBITE: Mario Negri, president of the UCR block in the Chamber of Deputies.]

"I would like there not to be an implosion in Juntos por el Cambio, but we are living a moment of enormous difficulty and radicalism should not be responsible for what may happen. I would have liked to explain to the Argentines what happened in the elections and how much we contributed with mistakes in a process that ended with the defeat."
