On October 29, 2023, in Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russia, a group of protesters confronted authorities at the local airport as they attempted to meet a flight arriving from Tel Aviv. The demonstrators, some carrying Palestinian flags, broke through the airport building, and a portion of them managed to reach the runway. In response, the Federal Air Transport Agency temporarily closed the airport for incoming and outgoing flights. The situation was swiftly addressed by law enforcement, with the Investigative Committee of Dagestan launching a case on charges of mass riots. Officials from the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs also pledged to identify all participants involved in the disturbance.
