A third actor entered the Middle East conflict. Its power is limited, but it shows the feared possibility of an escalation of the conflict between Israel and Hamas. Specifically, it is the Houthis, a group that is opposed to the Yemeni government, but which managed to control just Sana'a, the country's capital.

The support given to Hamas has been direct. Last October 31, they launched a drone attack against Israel as an act of retaliation. The aircraft were intercepted by a US aircraft carrier patrolling the Red Sea.

It is a group that is also part of the internal struggle in the Muslim world. They are Shiites, when the majority of the Arab world is Muslim. However, this has led them to strengthen ties with the regime of the ayatollahs in Iran, the main country controlled by the Shiites. In addition, they have an agreement and understanding with Hezbollah -also Shiites- who are in permanent conflict with Israel from Lebanon.
