A mum-of-two has shared her “maximalist” budget Christmas door display – despite her wacky home décor choices previously giving people “migraines and vertigo”.

Tasha McBrinn is no stranger to colour and previously hit headlines due to her colourful interior choices, even spray painting her living room.

While she has faced criticism, with people telling her it would “make them sick” to live in her colourful abode, this Christmas Tasha is taking it one step further by creating a rainbow Grinch front-door display.

The 32-year-old homemaker from Ormskirk, West Lancashire, created the psychedelic porch display for under £60 to honour her love of the Christmas classic ‘The Grinch’ – with the decorations taking her two days to make and a following two hours to assemble.

“I know it’s not always everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s me – how my brain is on the inside comes out in my designs on the outside,” Tasha told NeedToKnow.co.uk.

“A bunch of trolls made a forum once saying that our house looked like a crack den.

“So I incorporated some of their comments into the decor just for fun.

“Previous trolling has been based on my house giving people migraines or vertigo.

“A lot of people say that they couldn’t live in our house as it’s far too much and would make them feel sick.

“My style is maximalist – the more items and colour, the better.

“More is definitely more for me.”

Despite the criticism she has faced, Tasha doesn’t let the hate get to her.

She said: “To be honest I’m totally used to it now.

“I know both colour and maximalism isn’t for everyone, just like beige, grey and blank spaces isn’t for me.

“We live in an ex-council house that is old and pebble-dashed on the outside.

“It’s nice to see some of the brightness and fun from inside the house brought outside.”

The new festive display cost the savvy mum just under £60 by DIYing the majority of her show-stopping door.

The mum-of-two managed to source the majority of her materials from Amazon, The Range and Home Bargains, with the task of keeping her costs down proving quite the challenge.

Tasha said: “I wanted to keep the cost down but it seems the Grinch is quite expensive around the Christmas period.

“Creating it myself was the best way to go

“Of course, the inspiration came from my love of the Grinch movies!

“When I was thinking of what to do this year, I thought why not go all out with something fun that all the family loves

“The Grinch was the first thing that sprung to mind.”

Tasha’s eccentric style takes centre stage inside her house too, with the mum even spray-painting her Christmas tree black to allow her colourful decoration collection to shine through.

She added: “There is no particular theme for the decorations in the house this year other than colour.

“I just go with what is in my mind, I knew I wanted more colour than normal this year.

“And [I] sought out as many colourful decorations as I could find to help me get to that goal.”

Tasha says her sons, Anthony, 16 and Franklyn, 2 love her bright style with husband Chris, 36, equally as pleased.

But not everyone is so supportive.

Last year, Tasha hit headlines with her unique style giving trolls nausea – although she hasn’t let them spoil the fun.

She said: “All I tell myself is as long as me and my family love it, as we are the ones living in it, then that’s all that matters.

“If everyone had the same taste or style the world would be a boring place.”

TOTAL COSTS FOR TASHA’S GRINCH PORCH DISPLAY:

Grinch cut-outs x4 = £19.99

Lights = £9.99

Deco mesh x 4 = £15.99 (Tasha used 2, so £7.99),

Tinsel £0.99

Berries £1.99

Baubles- £1.99

Candy pick- £2.49

Grinch Rug £2.99

Santa 'stop here' sign £6.99

Total = £55.415- so £55.42
