A man has gone viral after sharing how he created a flat for his pet cat – complete with its own garden, bathroom, and kitchen.

Nicholas McCuen and his partner have had their feline Nikko, a Savannah, since 2020 and go above and beyond to care for him.

With plans to build a cat ‘skyscraper’ and ‘small city’, the 26-year-old has already gone the extra mile – by making the kitty his very own humble abode.

Nicholas initially had a low budget for the miniature home, using basic materials including cardboard and duct tape.

But after progress on the build garnered over 13 million views on TikTok, all rules went out the window – and the couple have now spent over £400 ($500 USD) and a whopping 80 hours on the complex.

“When I saw how much Nikko liked it and how people were engaging with it, I kind of threw the budget to the side,” Nicholas told NeedToKnow.co.uk.

“His luxury cat apartment contains a bed, bathroom, living room, kitchen, and a spare bedroom and even features a real grass patch and flower scratching post.

“My goal is to build Nikko an entire cat city if all goes well with the cat skyscraper [which I am currently building].

“It’s [building his flat] a lot of fun and it’s really cool seeing the finished product.”

The TikTok has received over 1.7 million likes.

Describing Nikko as an ‘extra curious cat’, Nicholas claims his pet loves getting new stuff for the pad, and has thrown the budget for the structure out of the window.

Social media users can’t get enough of the pet’s living quarters, with many expressing their surprise at the quality of the flat.

One user commented: “Niko’s apartment is nicer than mine.”

Another viewer commented: “The cat is treated better than ⅓ children.”

Shaunte joked: “My cat sent me this. I think she wants me to step my game up.”

Heather said: “That is so cute.”

Jams commented: “This cat lives in a better environment than me.”

King added: “Nico pay rent? Hope so.”

Another fan said: “I love this. It’s so wholesome.”

Penny commented: “He has a better room than me.”

Another viewer added: “A damn cat has a nicer place than me.”

Savannah commented: “This is how I expect my future husband to treat my cat.”
