A viral video shows the moment a bloke cracks open a can of beer while watching a devastating flood cause £5,000 worth of damage to his home.

Tom Johnson, 33 was forced to leave his property in Framlingham, Suffolk, after flood water filled up his living room and destroyed his carpets.

But before he left, the quantity surveyor acted fast and shifted as much furniture as he could upstairs.

In a bid to protect his other appliances from the one-foot-deep water, Tom stacked items on top of each other, too.

He then opened a can of Carlsberg to deal with the stress and watched in horror as his property became submerged.

Hundreds of homes have been evacuated and thousands have been left damaged as Storm Babet triggers catastrophic flooding.

Tom has been left devastated by the damage and says he will need to fork out thousands to replace the carpets, boiler and other white goods.

He is also using over £50 of electricity per day to run dehumidifiers.

The 33-year-old property owner is currently staying with his parents but praises the local community for pulling together during the difficult time.

However, he is concerned about the future when it comes to selling his house.

“What’s happened though will now always make me concerned when I see heavy rain forecast at the thought that it could happen again,” Tom told Jam Press. [sic]

”I try to see the funny side of everything though – hence my video of the Carlsberg.

“It does make you realise how powerful nature is and in reality we can’t stop it.

”I was very lucky, I just have a lot of mess.

”I haven’t really lost anything as I was at home and I was able to move everything to safety.

“Some people have young families or are old and unable to do things for themselves.

”Some people have lost lots of their possessions.

“I was very fortunate that I didn’t have any sewage enter my home.”

Tom hopes to be back in his home in two weeks but will keep running the dehumidifiers until he returns.

He added: ”What’s happened though will now always make me concerned when I see heavy rain forecast at the thought that it could happen again.”

His video shared on TikTok, has racked up over 20,000 views and plenty of comments from concerned viewers.

“When your house floods and your beer selection is shit,” the jokey caption reads.

“If Carlsburg did the weather,” said Tyler. [sic]

Martin added: “Well you left the door open so….”

“I’d rather drink the flood water,” said Karl.

Another person said: “At least you now have a pool.”

“Fair play fella,” said someone else, adding crying laughing emojis.

“Mate I feel your pain. I had to drink Carlsberg once,” joked Tom Saunders.

“I’m sorry but that made me laugh,” added Paul Brett.

Tina said: “This is hilarious.”
