Argentinian workers took to the streets as the far-right libertarian President-elect Javier Milei prepared to take office.

On Thursday 30 November, the State Workers Association (ATE) held a press conference under the slogan "Unity, Resistance and Proposal".

The national authorities of the union, and also those of the province of Buenos Aires, ratified the state of permanent assembly in view of the radical reform measures that could be introduced by the incoming government of Javier Milei. A strike date is already under consideration.

The event held at the Buenos Aires headquarters of the union was attended by more than a thousand delegates from all the national agencies, according to the union.

Within this framework, the ATE made official its first steps ahead of the presidential inauguration on 10 December: a request for an audience with the President-elect, a nationwide day of protest, unity of the central unions, and requesting meetings with groups in Congress.
