Come face to face with one of the most fierce, epic, and record breaking blizzards to ever hit the Mid-Atlantic United States. By many accounts this storm will hold record snowfall accumulation in many areas, especially in metro DC and Baltimore. As seen from Frederick, Maryland, the snow started to fall in the afternoon of January 22 and accumulated throughout the night into the afternoon of January 23. Storm accumulation in Frederick is 32" and going up. Other observations include snowfall rates of 1-3" per hour, wind gusts in excess of 35 mph, blowing and drifting snow with snow drifts of 4 feet and even higher.
