China: Woman Rescued After Falling Into Frozen Lake In Xianyang
Police in the City of Xianyang in Shaanxi Province rescued a woman who fell into a frozen lake there on December 22.
Policeman named Chen Geng crawled 30 meters across a thin layer of ice to reach the woman who appeared unconscious due to subzero temperatures and attempted to grasp the submerged woman's clothing to pull her up.
Yan Ming, a Lake Management Office staff member, arrived at the scene and also joined in the rescue. After more than ten minutes, the woman was finally rescued and urgently taken to a hospital, while both rescuers were also assisted ashore by onlookers.
Following emergency treatment, the condition of the woman was reportedly stable.
