Eighteen heads of state, mainly from Africa, have confirmed their participation in the inauguration of the president-elect of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Felix Tshisekedi, the president's high representative Serge Tshibangu announced on Thursday.
Two vice presidents, four former heads of state, and high-level foreign representatives have also confirmed their participation in the inauguration, which will be held here on Saturday, said Tshibangu.

"As for the number of the heads of state attending, we have received congratulatory messages for Felix Tshisekedi's reelection, which manifests how other countries expressed their friendship, solidarity, fraternity for the Congolese people. At this point, 18 heads of state have confirmed their participation in the inauguration which will be held on Jan. 20, this Saturday."
According to him, the Martyrs Stadium of Kinshasa, where Tshisekedi will be sworn in for the second term, will be open to the public from 4 a.m. local time (0300 GMT) on Saturday.
In the general elections on Dec. 20, Tshisekedi secured a dominant 73.47 percent of the vote, while main opposition candidate Moise Katumbi trailed behind with 18.08 percent, according to the Constitutional Court of the DRC.
