California Transportation District 7 recently released a drone video highlighting the current storm alert affecting State Route 33 in the Los Padres Forest.

The video shows the damage caused by last winter's storms and the ongoing repairs being made along SR-33 between Maitlija Hot Springs Rd. and Lockwood Valley Rd. Due to the extensive damage, there is one-way alternating traffic control at five locations along the route. Additionally, there is a possibility of full closures in the event of new storms hitting the area this weekend.

Authorities have warned that snow levels may drop to 3500 feet and are advising travelers to avoid unnecessary trips through the mountains until Sunday, March 3. The video showcases the preventive measures being taken, such as covering the repaired slope at postmile 25.47 with tarps to prevent soil runoff in anticipation of rain and snowfall.
