Floating cars and residential areas under water after flooding in Buenos Aires, Argentina
This footage was filmed and produced 30 March 2024.
In the framework of a storm that affected the province of Buenos Aires, two fierce downpours that discharged more than 120 millimetres in just over 40 minutes left half the city of La Plata covered with water.
This Tuesday after 19:00 the first of the two rainfall phenomena was recorded, which caused the streets to collapse in almost all the neighbourhoods of the capital of the province. Hail was also recorded in some areas, especially in the north, but without severe damage. The second, meanwhile, occurred between 20.30 and 21.
The residents of La Plata reported in Whatsapp chains and on social networks the serious consequences of the rain on avenues, boulevards and homes.
The intensity of the rain caused street closures, waterlogging and the entry of water into properties. As of Tuesday night, there was no report from the Municipality on the extent of the damage and no evacuees were reported.
Partial power outages were also reported through the networks.
