This is important because AI can be dangerous without proper regulations and the Indonesian government must have a strong base to supervise these new upcoming companies. Many studies show that if Indonesia optimizes the benefits of artificial intelligence, by 2030 it can achieve revenues of around 336 billion U.S. dollars.";

Storyline:
Idonesia is fast becoming a hotbed for the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, with many companies benefiting from the government's support plan for the burgeoning industry.

In August 2020, the Southeast Asian country unveiled the government's National Strategy on Artificial Intelligence, a 25-year blueprint designed to catapult the country into a new era. This strategy promises to harness AI technology to streamline bureaucracy, enhance public services, and improve economic growth.

Kata is the leading pioneer of conversational AI in Indonesia. One of its founders, Irzan Raditya, was passionate about AI from early on, leading him to build an algorithm that can understand various human languages.

The start-up's involvement in the blueprint signifies a collaborative effort between the government and private sectors, aiming to position Indonesia alongside global leaders in AI like the United States and China.

"China is definitely the most advanced AI ecosystem in Asia and then maybe followed by South Korea, Japan and also Singapore. So I think Indonesia are actually learning from multiple countries how the nations are utilizing AI as a part of their strategy," said Raditya.

With that inspiration, companies like Kata are becoming key players, helping to craft the national AI vision.

Firman Kurniawan, a digital expert at the University of Indonesia, said that beyond the technology, Indonesia's national strategy is still about benefiting people, not the machines.
