STORYLINE:
Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and UN special rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories Francesca Albanese discussed in Cairo on Sunday ways to ease the humanitarian suffering of Palestinians amid the ongoing Israeli aggression.
"We reiterate the necessity of ending Israeli violations against civilians in Gaza, sustaining full aid delivery to the enclave, and eliminating violence and attacks by Israeli settlers in the West Bank," Shoukry was quoted as saying in a statement released by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.
The Egyptian top diplomat warned against the repercussions of the ongoing Israeli military operations in Gaza and the increasing Israeli attacks and illegal settlement activities in the West Bank on Palestinians' humanitarian conditions and regional stability.
He reiterated "the need to stop the Israeli practices aimed at pushing for the displacement of Palestinians outside their land and Israel's implementation of policies of collective punishment and indiscriminate targeting of civilians."
Albanese expressed deep concern over "the catastrophic humanitarian situation of the Palestinian people in light of Israeli practices in the occupied Palestinian territories," according to the statement.
