STORYLINE:
A concert titled "Harmony in Translation: Fu Lei Meets Beethoven" was held on Sunday at the China Cultural Center in Valletta, the capital city of Malta.
The concert offered the audience an opportunity to explore Beethoven's timeless masterpieces alongside the meticulous art of literary translation by Fu Lei, a noted Chinese translator.
Fu Lei is renowned for his significant contributions to Chinese literature as a translator of French masterpieces, including works by Rolland, Balzac, Voltaire, and Hippolyte Taine.
One of Fu's first translations was Rolland's "Beethoven," marking the beginning of his lifelong admiration for both Beethoven and Rolland.
Three distinguished musicians, Niu Ruixin on the viola, Pierre-Henri Xuereb on the viola, and Pascal Mantin on the piano, performed Beethoven's music at this special cultural-musical event.
The audience was deeply inspired by Beethoven's music, accompanied by profound excerpts from Fu Lei's translation of "Beethoven" and passages from "Fu Lei's Family Letters," a collection of letters between Fu and his two sons that reveals his fatherly love and dedication to their education.
