A protective mother cat attacked a waitress who accidentally stepped on her kitten in southern China.

CCTV footage filmed in Xiamen City in Fujian Province on July 1, shows a woman changing a garbage bag and then stepping back, inadvertently treading on a kitten behind her. In a flash, the enraged mother cat darted out and attacked the woman's foot.

The swift intervention of the restaurant's owner was necessary to stop the protective feline. She quickly arrived at the scene, calming both the mother cat and her kitten.

According to the owner, neither the kitten nor the waitress sustained any significant injuries in the unexpected encounter.
