We rescued this beauty, she cried out for help for many hours in the day. I could hear her from my window overlooking plush trees in the back parking lot. I could not ignore her cries. She simply. would not have made it out there alive. Not with Hawks, Ravens and Peregrine Falcons flying around over head and a storm settling in later that evening. Since I had a good idea about where her cries were coming from, I insisted on rescuing her. We were finally able to win her trust and decided to return after dark (once the onlookers had retreated back inside their homes). Shortly afterward we returned. to find the Alexandrine sleeping exactly where we had left her; perched on the lowest branch. All that we had was a travel cat bag, in which she willingly stepped into with very little urging. She was famished and wanted to be saved & ultimately yielded to being placed temporarily in a cat bag for transport, She was so tired, she took midday naps 2 days in a row after her rescue. It made my heart so happy to be able to provide some reprieve for this sweet, precious life, for five days and six nights. During that period I combed through all the database and posted photos of her on all the lost and found groups and websites, Unfortunately no-one stepped forward to claim her... She has since been rehomed and officially adopted out through the Inky Blue Sea Companion Animal rescue organization (of which I’m on the board of.); and is now living her best life, happily ever after with her new forever family.. She is being cared for by a professional exotic bird handler/Muralist who owns a house & 9 other exotic birds, has access to the top 3 exotic animal vets in the vicinity and teaches all her birds to fly back home!
