San Diego, United States - July 19, 2024

San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance has announced that Yun Chuan and Xin Bao, a panda pair from China, will make their official public debut on Thursday, August 8. These pandas mark the first of their kind to arrive in the United States in over two decades.

"We are thrilled to introduce Yun Chuan and Xin Bao to our San Diego Zoo community," stated Paul Baribault, President and CEO of San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance. "Their presence not only brings joy to our visitors but also underscores our commitment to international conservation efforts. Through collaborations with our partners, we continue to advance efforts towards a sustainable future for these iconic animals."

Since their arrival in late June, the pandas have been adjusting to their new home in the enhanced Panda Ridge. This spacious environment, inspired by China's renowned landscapes, features expansive areas for climbing and exploration, complemented by native flora and rolling hills.

Yun Chuan, nearly five years old, is distinguished by his elongated nose, while Xin Bao, almost four, is known for her round face and distinctive fluffy ears. Both pandas are part of the Zoo's initiative to provide enriching habitats that promote their natural behaviors.
