Alicante, Spain - August 12, 2024

The Guardia Civil has arrested an individual in Formentera del Segura (Alicante) for installing cameras inside homes to secretly record their neighbors. The arrest follows the discovery of a recording device attached to a neighbor's bedroom window grille, initially found by a resident who noticed suspicious activity late at night.

Local authorities initially alerted the Guardia Civil after receiving the device from the concerned resident. The disguised camera was strategically placed to evade detection, targeting bedrooms within the neighborhood, predominantly occupied by elderly residents.

Upon examining the device's contents, investigators uncovered footage depicting interiors of several homes in the area. One video even captured the perpetrator placing the camera in one of the residences. Through community cooperation and surveillance footage analysis, the suspect was identified and apprehended.

A subsequent search of the suspect's residence yielded electronic recording equipment, alongside 6 grams of cocaine, 30 grams of marijuana, and other materials suggestive of drug distribution. The individual faces charges related to privacy violations and drug trafficking.
