An early morning trout fishing trip near a Jamestown, California, waterfall turned into a tense standoff for TikToker, 'popeyemodesto,' when he encountered a mountain lion for the second time in a week.

Equipped with bear spray and a pistol after a previous sighting, 'popeyemodesto' was prepared but shaken when the big cat approached him on the trail. Forced to drop his phone and draw his weapon, 'popeyemodesto' refrained from firing, later learning from local authorities that he could have legally defended himself. The mountain lion reappeared near his car, but he managed to retreat safely.

I was fishing down by the waterfall early in the morning and I started heading back on the trail, looked up and saw a mountain lion. The week prior I spotted one in the same area, crossing the road close to where I park on the side of the road ( also have the video). So this time I was prepared with bear spray and a pistol. I recorded until it moved towards me quickly and I threw my phone down and grabbed what was closer, my pistol. I did NOT shoot it. I contacted the locals, rangers, fish and game wildlife, etc. Fish and game said in this situation I'd have every right to shoot or at least fire a warning shot. It dissappeared again and quickly re appeared on the road headed towards my car, which is when I jumped in and left.
