This is the painful moment a Chinese street performer is engulfed in flames during a fire-breathing display in front of a large crowd.

Footage was taken during the Qixi Festival celebration in Shanxi Province, China on August 10.

The performer was preparing for his act by taking a flammable liquid into his mouth and exhaling flames.

During the performance, the fire unexpectedly followed the liquid to his mouth, igniting his head and setting his clothing on fire as he spun around, trying to extinguish the flames.

Nearby police officers quickly responded, using water to douse the flames on his exposed skin. Despite their swift action, he sustained visible burns on his neck.

Onlookers watched in shock as emergency measures unfolded, with everyone focused on ensuring the performer's safety.

Medical personnel were later called to assess his condition and provide treatment while the event continued.
