A wildfire with three distinct ignition points broke out in the Desierto de las Palmas, a natural park situated between Benicassim and Oropesa, causing significant concern among the residents of Castellon province. The fire, which started in the afternoon, was quickly addressed by a robust response from local and regional firefighting units.

The Castellon Provincial Fire Consortium, along with aerial support from the Generalitat Valenciana, including three helicopters and six airplanes, were deployed to combat the flames. The fire's unusual pattern, with multiple starting points, has led authorities to suspect arson, especially given that this area had experienced several smaller fire outbreaks earlier this summer.

Firefighting efforts were intense, with seven units from the Castellon Fire Department, additional resources from Nules and Benicarlo, and aerial coordination playing a crucial role in managing the spread of the fire. The strategic use of air tankers and helicopters was pivotal as darkness fell, although aerial operations had to cease with the loss of daylight.

By late evening, the fire was reported as stabilized, thanks to the relentless work of ground crews who continued their efforts through the night. The fire was officially declared under control by 9:30 AM on August 30, with ongoing efforts to fully extinguish any remaining hotspots.
