Wild boars cool off in public swimming pool in Germany
This is the hilarious moment two wild boars cool off in a giant public pool, taking advantage of the lack of people to beat the summer heat.
The unexpected 'guests' were seen by a lifeguard who came to the outdoor pool in Karlsruher Baeder, Baden-Wuerttemberg State, Germany, to start his morning shift on August 20.
He starts off the video, by saying: 'Ah what a beautiful morning, with no guests around.'
But as he goes around to the end of the pool, he is greeted by two wild boars casually taking a dip as if they belonged there.
Baffled, yet amused by the sight, the man says: 'Oh! What is that? Ah, two piggies. Good morning! Hello! So nice to see you.'
They even appeared to be following a swimming routine as they splashed side by side along the length of the pool, seemingly unbothered by the man's presence.
According to the employee, the boars had swum into the pool from the Old Rhine River and then enjoyed themselves in the cool water.
Karlsruher Baeder said: 'Awesomeperformance at the Rheinstrandbad Rappenwoert swimming pool.
'The employee was amazed by this piggish surprise and found the two swimming wild boars very cute, even though they hadn't paid for entry and had broken into the pool.'
Oliver Sternagel, head of the Karlsruhe swimming pool operations, said: 'It's not unusual for animals to swim in outdoor pools.
'I think it happens in almost all outdoor pools that birds, geese, ducks, and anything that flies also use the pools. And now, the wild boars too.'
The pool's management also assured that the pool is equipped with technical systems and filtration units that treat the water and ensure it meets hygiene standards at all times, so actual guests should not worry about the water quality.
It added that not only boars are welcome, but so are dogs, as the pool will host its annual dog swim event on September 15 after the outdoor pool season ends.
