On the evening of September 11, Tianjin Binhai Airport in northern China suffered a drone interference incident, resulting in a large area of flights unable to take off and land, and the travel plans of more than 3,000 passengers were affected.

According to the news released by Tianjin Binhai International Airport, the unidentified flying object was found in the airport's airspace at 19:33 that night, and it was confirmed that it was a drone. The sudden situation triggered an immediate emergency response from the airport, which quickly took measures to suspend flights for public safety reasons.

As of 23:00 that night, a total of 29 flights were delayed at Tianjin Binhai Airport, 8 flights were canceled, and 32 flights were diverted. The incident disrupted the travel plans of more than 3,000 passengers and forced them to face flight delays or cancellations.

After a tense and orderly disposal, Tianjin Binhai International Airport ushered in the first flight that took off smoothly at 6:10 on the next day, September 12.

The lawyer said that the affected passengers can make a claim to the airline, asking the airline to refund or change the ticket, and compensate the loss, such as the cost of accommodation and transportation expenses caused by the detention at the airport. If passengers buy flight delay insurance, they can apply to the insurance company for compensation.

According to China's Interim Regulations on the Flight Management of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVS), if the flight of a drone has caused serious consequences, such as causing flight delays, the person operating the drone may violate the relevant provisions of the criminal law on endangering public security and need to bear certain criminal responsibility. At the same time, its behavior of controlling drones has caused economic losses to airlines and passengers, so it needs to bear certain civil liability for compensation.
