This heart-stopping video shows a driver evading disaster at the last minute by slipping through the narrow gap between two elks who suddenly decided to cross the road before him at night.

Footage from the Bezhetskoe motorway in Tver Oblast, Russia, captured the driver speeding through the dark during the night hours of Thursday, 17th October.

However, his quick reaction likely saved his life and that of the two animals after they suddenly appeared in the middle of the road and began crossing.

Upon spotting the animals, the driver instinctively swerved to the left briefly, narrowly slipping between the two elks unharmed.

In the background, a woman's voice can be heard yelling in panic, terrified by the harrowing situation.
