Republican candidate Donald Trump declared victory early Wednesday in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, as Fox News projected that he would win 277 Electoral College votes.
This election is widely regarded as one of the most divisive in American history. Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris and Trump have repeatedly warned against potentially catastrophic consequences inflicted on the country if the other is elected. Voters hold vastly different views on key issues such as the economy, immigration, and abortion rights.
At least 270 Electoral College votes are needed to clinch the presidency.
