The Underwater Splits Challenge by Silvia Solymosyová Goes Viral - But It's Nearly Impossible to Replicate
Silvia Solymosyová, a professional underwater dancer, posted the original video of her performing flawless splits while submerged in a pool at the start of September. The Underwater Splits Challenge, which requires performing two splits while submerged in water (one of them upside down), has gone viral across social media platforms like Youtube (20M views), Instagram (11.3M views) and Facebook (9.6M views), leaving viewers amazed by the impressive flexibility and control required.
Later on she posted different version of this challenge - in various outfits and completing the move in reverse. Despite the challenge's viral reach, replicating it proved to be nearly impossible and so far, only one underwater dancer from South Korea has been able to achieve it. This challenge is not just about flexibility. You’re dealing with gravity-defying buoyancy, resistance from the water, and the added challenge of holding your breath after exhaling most of air in your lungs. It requires real skill, and it’s clear that not everyone can just hop in and nail it. In addition to the physical difficulty of performing the underwater split, capturing the move on film presents its own set of challenges. Unlike dry land dance challenges that can be filmed anywhere with basic equipment, underwater videos require high-quality waterproof cameras, clear water, and the right lighting.
