This is the hilarious moment a Schnauzer was confused by its doppelganger furniture.

The canine stood still as it watched a wooden grey stool that looked like itself in a living room in Jilin, China, on December 3.

Footage shows the visibly shocked pooch tilting its head to get a closer look at the piece of furniture.

The filmer said: 'We bought the stool because we thought he might like it, but we were wrong. Though, it was still funny.'

Studies have shown that the uncanny valley effect — an eerie feeling experienced by people or animals when encountering something that is human-like or animal-like but not quite human or animal, such as a robot or a computer-generated character — can also apply to dogs.

This phenomenon has been observed in studies using stimuli that gradually morph between a cartoon dog and a real dog, revealing that dogs may experience similar discomfort or confusion when faced with such visual distortions.
