SOUNDBITE (Swahili): SAIDI MFAUME, Kung Fu teacher in Tanzania
"My name is Saidi Mfaume, and I am known as Master Mfaume. I am a Kung Fu trainer in Tanzania.
I started to learn Kung Fu here in Tanzania, and later, I joined Shaolin Temple in China to further my studies.
In China, I received training until I got my diploma.
I have spent most of my time training and spreading Kung Fu across Tanzania.
I have successfully spread it in many parts of Tanzania, including almost all big cities.
People show huge interest in Kung Fu and my training, and I feel proud to be one of the teachers spreading this culture in Tanzania.
Before I started, many people were not aware of Kung Fu at all.
But until now, I have trained at least 1,500 (young) Tanzanians and at least 15 practitioners from outside Tanzania.
The friendship between our two countries (Tanzania and China) has directly benefited me a lot, because by myself I couldn't even go to China.
But (the scholarship offered by) the Chinese government gave me an opportunity to go there and improve my training.
And this makes me feel like I have a huge mission to spread Kung Fu especially to young people."
