Damascus, Syria - December 08, 2024 The latest video clip provided by a stringer for China Global Television Network (CGTN) on Sunday shows Syrian rebels entering the country's capital, Damascus. The video shows groups of armed individuals driving through the city in cars and pickup trucks and walking in the streets, as gunshots fired into the air could also be heard sporadically. The rebels announced on Sunday that they had 'freed Damascus' and overthrown President Bashar al-Assad. Meanwhile, the Syrian military stated that it is continuing operations against 'terrorist groups' in the towns of Hama and Homs, as well as in the Deraa countryside.
