Newsflare Exclusive- TikTok user @elizabethelia.s went viral with her story of a bizarre encounter at Starbucks, racking up over 43 million views. The college student, who had been working on her final paper at 5 a.m., was approached by a woman who began yelling at her about a “trode” (electrode) in her backpack, accusing it of being a weapon.

The situation escalated when the woman continued to berate her, even attempting to reach for her wallet with her ID on display. The student began recording, capturing the heated exchange as the woman threatened to call the police and corporate.

Eventually, a shift supervisor intervened, and the woman was asked to leave. The baristas, who were supportive throughout the ordeal, even gave the student a free cookie afterward.

I had been working on my final paper all night and needed a change of scenery to finish my final paper for the semester so I went to Starbucks. I opened my laptop and while waiting for my order to be called this lady walks up to me asking me to shut off all my electronics. She then proceeds to continue yelling at me about the “electrode” I’m carrying in my backpack, which she said was a weapon and threatens to call the police on me. I tried to ignore her, but after asking if I went to school here (here being Colorado State University) then where I lived, she began to walk closer to me where I looked up and she was starting to reach for my wallet which displayed my ID through a clear sleeve sitting face up on the table, at which point I started recording. She continued to berate me over the “trode” and called me a “stupid b*tch” repeatedly. She eventually moved to sit down further away from me while still calling out occasional insults, so I informed the baristas as to what had transpired. The shift supervisor then came to speak to her and after telling her she would have to leave if she continued to speak to customers like that, she yelled at him how she was going to call the cops then call corporate and get him fired because “this was a private business so she could speak to me however she wants.” He then tells her she needs to leave and she finally does.
