A total of 1,933 migrants, including one confirmed dead, arrived in Spain's Canary Islands aboard 34 overcrowded boats in the final week of 2024, according to data from Spanish rescue and emergency teams.
With these arrivals, the archipelago is expected to see over 46,000 sea arrivals for the year, setting a new annual record.
