This is the hilarious moment a Samoyed dog protected its food from a cat.

The tabby feline was eating dog food on the ground, causing the white canine to paw it away from its snack in Shaanxi, China on October 1.

Footage captured by Ms Wang shows the pooch pushing the cat away from the food container. It then ate a little bit before walking toward its owner.

Moments later, the cat started munching on the snack treats again, but the Samoyed went over and pushed the feline away once more.

Ms Wang said: 'My dog is a bit selfish when it comes to his own food, and he always does that every time the cat eats his food.'

Samoyed dogs may show food guarding behavior. This can be a genetic trait or a natural behaviour that was necessary for survival before dogs were domesticated.
