Amid the fierce Santa Ana winds sweeping through Los Angeles, Beverly Hills resident Julian Matulich found himself face-to-face with a fast-spreading brush fire in his backyard. A downed power line ignited the flames, prompting Julian to act immediately.

Armed with only a garden hose, he began battling the fire to protect his home. "The power line went down in my yard from the intense wind," Julian explained. "I started fighting it with a garden hose, trying to keep the fire from spreading to the house before LAFD arrived."
