STORY:
Finnish authorities suspect that the Cook Islands-registered Eagle S tanker broke the Finnish-Estonian Estlink 2 power line and four telecommunications cables in the Baltic Sea by dragging its anchor on the seabed on Christmas Day, 25 December.
The vessel entered Finnish territorial waters and was taken into custody by the Finnish authorities. Finland's National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) seized the vessel. The ship was transferred to Porvoo in the Baltic Sea on 28 December.
According to the police, the new location offers a better opportunity to carry out investigative measures.
The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom said on 8 January that the ship had serious defects and would not be allowed to operate until repairs were made.
