Gaza's humanitarian crisis continues as people wait for ceasefire amid hunger

Gaza - January 15, 2025 Storyline: Israel continued airstrikes in Gaza on Wednesday despite Israel and Hamas have agreed to a Gaza ceasefire and hostage deal. Israel and Hamas have agreed to the deal after intensive mediation efforts by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States, the Qatari prime minister announced on Wednesday. The Palestinian newspaper Al-Quds reported that on Wednesday night local time, after the ceasefire agreement was reached, Israeli fighter jets launched an attack on the Sheikh Radwan in northern Gaza City, resulting in 10 deaths and 10 injuries. The Israeli army also bombed a house in Gaza City, causing 18 casualties. From Tuesday night to Wednesday local time, before the agreement was reached, the Israel Defense Forces also launched airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, particularly in the northern region. The Gaza Strip's health authorities said on Wednesday that the military operations conducted by the Israeli military in the past 48 hours resulted in 123 deaths and 534 injuries. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported on Wednesday that in the past day, they had conducted airstrikes on over 50 targets in the Gaza Strip, including militants and military facilities of Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Meanwhile, IDF spokesperson Col. Avichay Adraee once again issued a so-called evacuation order to the residents of Jabalia in northern Gaza, claiming the military would carry out a severe attack on the region. The Palestinian death toll from ongoing Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip has risen to 46,707, with 110,265 others injured since this round of conflict reignited on Oct 7, 2023, according to a statement from the Gaza-based health ministry on Wednesday.
