Kandahar, Afghanistan - January 11, 2025 A cold snap in Kandahar, Afghanistan, has led to an increase in pneumonia cases among children. The Mirwais Regional Hospital has reported 5,000 cases in December, 394 of them severe while Dr Hedayatullah Hakimi, head of the children's department, confirmed that 20 children had died from respiratory illnesses aggravated by the cold air.
