On January 20, 2025, a sudden, historical, and unexpected weather event transpired in the Texas Panhandle. A snow squall on the leading edge of a powerful cold front swept south, reaching Amarillo and prompting the issuance of National Weather Service Amarillo’s first ever snow squall warning. As the squall intensified, it garnered increased severity, resulting in NWS to tag it as “significant”, with life-threatening travel impacts. My intercept took place several miles north of Amarillo on Highway 87, as I allowed the intense snow squall to progress over my location, capturing the storm in a wide-angle view.
