Jagat coin hunters caused chaos as they searched for collectables at a beach in Thailand.

The virtual treasure hunters sparked concerns when they poured into Krathing Lai Beach in Pattaya a week after the app launched in the country.

Footage shows dozens of lads, mostly teenagers, fixated on their phones while appearing to roam the park mindlessly by the bay on January 21.

They were seen huddling in some areas, comparing their devices before setting out again to search.

However, locals claimed the park was left in a mess with broken fences and shattered roof tiles as the coin seekers would rummage through piles of construction materials.

An annoyed local said: 'They make a mess and leave it lying around. When they found what they were looking for, they were shouting.'

The residents were also worried about the coin hunters searching alone late at night.

He added: 'Criminals might blend in. We can never tell what people can do these days. We hope they could at least clean up afterwards and not destroy properties.'

Jagat Coin is a treasure-hunting game on the Jagat app, where players search for coins that can be exchanged for cash prizes.

Gold coins are worth 200,000 baht (4,782.55 GBP), silver coins are valued at 20,000 baht (478.26 GBP), and bronze prizes are worth up to 2,000 baht (47.83 GBP).

To participate, players must subscribe for a monthly fee of 149 baht (3.56 GBP), with an additional 29 baht (0.69 GBP) charged for each clue they unlock.

In Thailand, Jagat Coin Hunt is currently available in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phuket, and Chonburi's Pattaya.
