"Wow, Storm Éowyn has truly arrived, and it looks like conditions are going to get rougher. The Met Office has issued the highest possible warning — a nationwide Red alert. The risk to life is extreme and very real. Stay home, stay safe, everyone."
As Storm Éowyn barrels towards the UK, millions have been urged to stay at home on Friday as potentially life-threatening winds are expected to hit northern and western regions. Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland will experience the worst conditions, with winds gusting up to 100 mph. The Met Office has issued red weather warnings, indicating a serious danger to life.
Schools in Northern Ireland and much of central Scotland will be closed, and significant travel disruptions are anticipated. Meanwhile, areas outside of the worst-hit zones are under amber and yellow warnings for both wind and rain, covering much of the country.
